From Carlos: Too often, when breathtakingly appalling things like this happen in society, our instinct (and understandable wish) is to write them off as unpleasant but aberrational occurrences. As noted in the quote from this article, sadly, I think it's crucially important that we recognize the rising incidence of anti-DEI energy in this country as an increasingly powerful and threatening force.
