I am grateful for this full-throated rebuke of cynical and vicious attacks on people who uphold the need to teach facts and critical thinking about all things. And I lament that such an act is so rare that it appears as a uniquely brave counterpoint to the false narrative that dominates public attention.
Does one have to be a "straight, white, Christian, married, suburban mom" - and a United States senator to boot - to be able to point out and defy the lethal lunacy running amok in this country?
Are you a parent, a student, a person who knows that teachers are overworked, underpaid, and undervalued, someone who cares about preserving truth and democracy? Have you expressed your full-throated defiance of the shameless bullying that's going on?
